Behind the Scenes Workshop - SET DESIGN

Behind the Scenes workshops are a great way to discover modern theatre practice, helping you learn about all the aspects of theatre that take place behind the scenes! Tuition is $60.00 for each session or register for 3 or more sessions and get a 10% discount (enter code BTS2017 at check out). This Fall we're offering workshops in the following areas:
Set Design October 7 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
In this workshop the participants will learn about the process a set designer goes through while examining a script from select plays/shows and will create a set design sketch. They will also learn about set decoration (i.e. - painting, color selection, design) and execute and example for a set design sketch.

Costumes September 9 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
Participants in this workshop will look at characters from select plays/shows. They will take a look at the role of a costume designer and consider what a costume says about the character (i.e. - time period, style, class, genre, color selection). Participants will design a costume for a character.

Lights & Sound October 7 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
This workshop introduces participants to the many elements of light & sound design for a production. They will take a look at the role of a light & sound design team and learn what the process is from design to opening night.

Make-Up October 21 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
This demonstration workshop covers the basics of stage make-up including:
The design process including style, genre and recording techniques
Application technique for stage and film
Demonstrations of different 'looks' on students inspired by current productions

Stage Management November 4 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
Ever wondered how a show comes together each night? Participants will explore the many elements of stage management. Our teaching artist (an experienced Stage Manager) will talk about the role of a stage manager in a production and share the best practices as well as stories from their experiences.
